The Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies offers classes in the languages, literatures and cultures of the Iberian Peninsula and Latin America. The program has a strong language component but is interdisciplinary in nature. Degree programs include:

Because international experiences are so vital to those studying languages, literatures and culture, participation in a study abroad program is highly recommended. Locally, however, there are also many ways to connect with the Hispanic community. The Department of Latin American and Iberian Studies has set the standard for community outreach with students regularly going into schools and medical clinics to offer translation services and work with children and adults in their first language. 

A combination of challenging courses, strong language resources and plentiful experiential learning opportunities guarantee that students studying Latin American and Iberian studies will be well prepared for careers or graduate school.
